Grace Mission Ambassador Program

The Mission and Evangelism Board is pleased to announce a new outreach effort called the Mission Ambassador Program. This Program will provide matching funds to person(s) for specific mission/evangelism related services. To become a Mission Ambassador, the Board requests information about proposed trip which should include the purpose and program information, estimated cost and why the person or group was called to serve in this way. Monies to support this program will be through an established giving program and distributed based on matching funds raised by the proposed ambassador. This program will be ongoing so funds will be designated to the program rather than to an individual. The named Ambassador(s) is(are) expected to help promote the program and to report to the congregation upon their return from their services.

Mission Focus for January

"World Mission Month": January celebrates the wise men's visitation to the baby Jesus and the spreading of the Gospel to the world. Mission offerings for this month will be designated for Lutheran Hour Ministries and our mission ambassador program. For this year's mission festival, Dr. Douglas Rutt, Director of the International Ministries division at Lutheran Hour Ministries will be our guest speaker. Dr. Rutt oversees the International Ministries division in St. Louis, Missouri, as well as the staff of more than 30 ministry centers worldwide. He is responsible for setting the division's vision and planning; evaluating programming and training; stimulating healthy growth of local support in each country where LHM has an office; maintaining productive working relationships with local board and partner church leadership; and maximizing the number of responses and congregation referrals around the world by directing, coaching, and supervising area counselors to prepare and empower the ministry centers to proclaim the Gospel message appropriately to their local populations.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, January 29th mission meal and presentation.

Mission Events

  • Easter Egg Hunt

Held the Saturday before Easter at "Eggsactly "11 am, this event allows children age 6 and under to gather eggs filled with treats and stickers. Eggs are the symbol of new life and remind us as Christians that we have new life in Christ who broke through the holds of death to live again. Prior to and after the hunt games and other activities are available in the church fellowship hall. This event is free and open to the public.
  • Independence Day Celebration!

Each year on July 4th, mission and evangelism in collaboration with the Lutheran Layman's League operates a concession stand with proceeds going to support the Lutheran Hour Ministry in Russia (link to global page with pictures of Dr. Savich). The stand is located in the parking lot of the church at 800 Silver Lake Drive. There are lots of parking spaces and a bird's eye view of the fireworks. Join us for the festivities and help us spread the Good News of Christ to our brothers and sisters in Russia.
  • St. Nicholas Festival

Held on the first Saturday of December in Grace Fellowship Hall. This event is free and open to the public. The tradition of Saint Nicholas Day, usually on December 6th, is a festival for children in many countries in Europe related to surviving legends of the saint, and particularly his reputation as a bringer of gifts. The American Santa Claus, as well as the Anglo-Canadian and British Father Christmas, derive from these legends. "Santa Claus" is itself derived from the Dutch.

    Why Celebrate Saint Nicholas Day?
    • To tell the story of a Christian whose model life inspires compassion and charity
    • To focus on the giving more than on receiving
    • To emphasize small treats and family fun
    • To provide a bit of special festivity early in the waiting weeks of Advent
    • To offer a spiritual dimension to gift giving
    • To help keep JESUS the center of Christmas
Provide your children an opportunity to learn about the true Saint Nicholas, the man of faith who lived his life in devotion to Christ. When we honor this saint, following his example of selfless giving, we honor the Christ child who selflessly gave the greatest gift of all -Himself!
